Back In Service does not collect your data.
There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, and no server that belongs to this app. Nothing about you or your device is transmitted to me or to anyone else.
Your preferences — which connection type to watch for, which alert sound to use, the reliability mode, and the related switches. These are written to your device's local storage and stay there. They are not backed up to any service I operate, and I have no way to read them.
To tell the difference between "your phone is attached to a tower" and "your phone can actually load something," the app makes a small request to a public connectivity-check endpoint and looks only at whether it answers. It currently uses two well-known endpoints operated by Google and Cloudflare, for the same reason your operating system does: if one is blocked or down, the other still gives a correct answer.
These requests contain no identifier, no account, and no information about you. They are unauthenticated, carry no app data, and the response is discarded after the app reads whether it succeeded. As with any internet request, the receiving server can see the IP address it came from; that is a property of connecting to the internet at all, not something this app adds. Their handling of that is governed by their own policies, not this one.
The app makes no other network requests, other than checking for app updates through Apple's and Expo's standard update services.
Alerts are generated on your device by the app itself. There are no push notifications, no push tokens, and no notification server. Nothing is sent through a remote service to alert you.
The app does not request or access location, contacts, photos, health data, or your camera.
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
No data is sold, shared, or disclosed, because none is collected. There are no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking of any kind.
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
