Getting started

  1. Open the app and tap the dial to arm the watch.
  2. Set the phone down. The app keeps watching while it is in the background.
  3. When your device is genuinely back online, the alert sounds.

Common questions

The alert did not fire when my signal came back.

Check that notifications are allowed for Back In Service in Settings → Notifications, and that the watch was actually armed before the phone went offline. If your phone was in a Focus mode, enable the Do Not Disturb bypass in the app's settings and grant the permission when iOS asks.

It alerted while I still had no usable connection.

The app confirms the connection carries real data before alerting, but a connection that comes back and immediately drops again can slip through. Turn on Keep watching so the watch stays armed after firing.

Which connection does it watch?

By default, any of them. In settings you can narrow it to cellular only or Wi-Fi only — useful if you are specifically waiting to get back onto your carrier and want hotel or airport Wi-Fi ignored.

Does it drain the battery?

There are three reliability modes. Battery Saver checks in rarely. Balanced is the default and is what most people should use. Maximum keeps the screen awake for the most precise result and is best used on a charger.

Why does the app ask to run in the background?

Because that is the whole point — you set the phone down and wait. The background permissions let the connectivity check keep running and the alarm keep sounding while the app is not on screen. The app never records audio; it only plays the alert tone.

Does the app collect my data?

No. There is no account, no analytics, and no server. Your settings are stored on your device and nowhere else. See the privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app. Everything it stored goes with it, because everything it stored was on your device.
